This 2015 Ford C-Max came to us with pet hair through the whole cabin and carpet that had dirt sitting in several distinct layers. We deep cleaned the interior and the exterior at the customer’s home in Brush Prairie, Washington. The job took about five hours and included a five step vacuum on every carpet, pet hair removal throughout, a two step wipe down of every surface, deep vacuuming of the leather seats, and a full hand wash with the wheels, badge, seals and handles worked by hand.
What we did
An extremely dirty car with leather seats and pet hair through the whole cabin. The carpets were the real job. In places the dirt sat in several layers, and each one had to come out before the next would move. That is the part that takes the time.
Pet hair was removed throughout. Every interior surface was wiped down with a two step method: a brush first, to get into the tiny cracks and lift the dirt out of them, then a finish with a clean microfiber towel.
The leather seats were wiped down and deep vacuumed, and we cleaned underneath the seats properly rather than around them. Trash out, and every interior window cleaned.
Outside, the car was hand washed and the wheels deep cleaned. The badge, vents, license plate, lettering, handles and rubber seals were all worked with a soft brush. Those are the details that make a car read as clean instead of just washed.
Like most of the cars we deep clean, this one lives outside. No garage means rain, snow and damp sitting on it right through the winter, and dirt working into the seals, the jambs and down through the carpet in layers. A wash takes the top layer off. Getting the rest of it out is what takes the hours.
Five step vacuuming
Run on every carpet and floor in the car.
- Vacuum out all the trash and light dirt, sticks and rocks.
- Drill brush at medium intensity.
- Vacuum again.
- Pet hair leftovers remover across the carpet.
- Fine particles worked loose with a tool, then vacuumed out.
Result
- Pet hair removed from the carpets, the seams and under the seats.
- Carpet worked in five passes until the colour came back even instead of patchy.
- Leather seats wiped down and deep vacuumed, and the areas under the seats cleaned rather than worked around.
- Shifter surround, cup holders and console cleared of the crumbs and grit sitting in them.
- Hand wash outside, with the wheels, badge, vents, plate, lettering, handles and seals brushed by hand.
Most of it, and on this car very nearly all of it. Loose hair vacuums out. The hair woven into the carpet pile has to be lifted mechanically first, which is what the drill brush and the pet hair tool are for, and that is the part that takes the time. What we will not tell you is that a car will be one hundred percent hair free forever. Hair works its way into seat rails, under trim and into the vents, and a small amount can surface again weeks later. If the car is being sold or handed over, say so and we will spend the extra time on the places that show.
Some of that carpet needed several passes before it came fully clean. Five hours, start to finish, at the customer’s home in Brush Prairie.

Questions people ask about jobs like this
Yes, and that is the harder half of the job. Carpet hair is woven into the pile and vacuuming alone does very little. It gets lifted with a drill brush and a dedicated pet hair tool first, then vacuumed out, and that sequence usually runs several times.
Pet hair removal is part of our top package, and it is also available as an add on to a smaller job. How much extra depends on how much there is, which is why we ask for photos first.
Because the dirt was in layers. Each pass lifted one and revealed the next. On a normal car this is three steps. On this one it was five.
We treat stains with a dedicated spot cleaner and, where it helps, steam, then lift what comes loose with a wet vac. Some stains lighten a long way and some do not move at all. We tell you which one we think it is before we start.
